Art of Heartbreak
If you care about anything long enough, your heart will break.
A child grows up and moves away. A friend's voice fades with time. The garden you tended for years now belongs to someone else.
The ache starts when life asks you to open your hand, but your fingers won't loosen.
When I paint flowers in a vase, often the petals are already falling. So I slow down and look more closely.
Walk any road wholeheartedly, and you will come to love more than your arms can carry. The ache is a measure of how much you meant it. Each small parting is a rehearsal for the last.
The fallen petal is still the flower.
