Art of Healing

A human life wears injury the way an old tree wears weather.

The body breaks and mends. What we love is lost, and something remains that wasn’t there before. Nothing returns to what it was because healing isn't a process of restoration. It is a process of transformation.

Some injuries deepen a life. Some hollow it out. The same injury can do either, and often the difference shows up years later, in what a person is willing to look at.

A scar can be the weakest place or the strongest, the mark of an old defeat or the proof of a life that continued.

My paintings carry the broken and mended parts of me, witnessed and lived into. And together they make the life that is uniquely me.

Healing never returns us to who we were; it reveals who we have always been becoming.
